Rule #995

Note to children:

You are right about all that crap they want you to learn in school, you won't need to know MOST of that stuff, ever.

But, that's not the point, you are learning HOW to learn when you do that work and do it well, and one day, you WILL need to have learned how to LEARN.

So do the work, do it well, study, get A's and B's, IT WILL MATTER.

Not true. Learn English so that you can communicate well in the world. Math, so that you make better logical decisions about your life, and history so that you tend to not repeat things. It took me years to understand this, but after having to catch up in college on these subjects, I understood better.

Both of you are right. The most important part of school is learing how to learn. Although we do learn some subjects for particular reasons. English and Maths are found in every syllabus because they will be needed in some form or the other.

Unfotunately school mostly teaches us how to 'remember' what we have learned by rote.. and 'how to pass tests...

We are born knowing how to learn and loving learning... school destroys that love for many..!!!

'Education' is about learning... Education and learning, do not have to take place in a school... There are many other places and methods, to educate ourselves. There are also many things we need to learn that can't be explored in a school..

many people only really learn, once they leave school and find a love or passion for something.. or once the failure of the schools has pushed them to a crisis point that has to be resolved!!
