This is it. Don't save yourself for Heaven.

Rule #546

If you think there's "Always another fish in the sea", you must not be very picky about your fish. They might look the same, but believe me, each fish is different.

Rule #547

Sometimes the computer will decide to misnumber things. Relax. In time you will figure out how to fix it.

Lesson: Be patient, and realize computers are evil.

Rule #548

Don't take rides from someone with this bumper sticker: "Cash, grass, or ass"

Rule #545

Facts: Life is short (don't waste it), be good to your body (you only get one), and treat people the way you'd like to be treated.

You could toss out the ten commandments and just use those three, and do pretty well.

Rule #544

There isn't always another fish in the sea, and there isn't always a tomorrow... remember that.

Rule #543

It's hard to fall out of love. At least it should be.

Rule #542

When seeking wise advice, have your mind made up ahead of time.

Rule #541

There's more to life than THIS... there's that, over there.

Move on.

Rule #539

Rule #539 was a nice rule.

The 'publish post' button was clicked, and all seemed well.

But, much to my horror, there was an 'internal server error', and it was lost.

This is one of the worst things that can happen to a writer.

Rule #539 was a BIG rule. It was a large paragraph, and I can't remember how it went exactly. So I can't reproduce it, and do it justice.

So there will be no Rule #539, not the 'real' Rule #539 anyway.

Rule #539 was "Advice to writers". It's poetic justice I guess, that this happened. The essence of Rule #539 was to 'keep writing', even though there was a good chance nobody would read what you'd written, and, as it turns out, what I wrote would never be read. Ironic.

So farewell Rule #539, wherever you are, out there in some stream of electrons, lost in the cosmos.

If there's a lesson here, after losing Rule #539, it's perhaps that 'things' and rules, are transient. Like us they exist for a moment, a blink of an eye, and are gone.

But they did exist, like us, and like us sometimes go unnoticed. But at least they, and we, were here, for a moment... our moment.

And there's something wonderful about that. And perhaps in the end 'that' is more important than Rule #539, the fact that we hold tight to our moment, our brief explosive and wonderful moment in the sun, even if that moment is appreciated by just a few, and even if, in the end, we are really alone here, sharing our moment with some, but alone, like a star, exploding.

Rule #538

There is a sense of awe in just 'being'... open yourself to that.

And, if you don't feel it, go have a big hamburger, there's a sense of awe in a good hamburger too.

Rule #537

Don't expect people to notice your BLOG.

Rule #536

You can lead a horse to water... and he'll drink if he's thirsty.

Moral: You can give someone an opportunity, it's up to them to take it.

Moral #2: Only a stupid horse won't drink when he needs to.

Moral #3: Horses also piss in their drinking water... don't give horses credit they don't deserve.

Rule #535

Yes, love can be AMAZING and last forever....

Between Penguins.

Rule #534

Rules are meant to be.....

followed, duh.

Rule #533

Most stuff is common sense. Stop and think about it, you already know what to do.

Rule #532

When all else fails, eat some ice cream.

When ice cream doesn't help, you're in deep shit.

Rule #531

After a long life, my mother's best advice to me was, "Be happy".

Sometimes the best advice is so simple, we ignore it.

Rule #530

Stop, and think of what's missing in your life... and add that.

Rule #529

If you have a great idea, pursue it! If your great idea fails, think of another great idea, and pursue that! (Repeat as needed)
